Laura + Brad’s Central Park engagement from a New York wedding photojournalist
Laura and Brad wanted to take advantage of their home, the greatest city in the world, for their engagement photos. So off we went through New York City on a beautiful late afternoon. And moving from place to place through crowded streets fit right in with what I do as a New York wedding photojournalist.
We started at the steps of the Metropolitan Museum and took some formal, slightly more posed photos of the two of them. The light was gorgeous. And as always, we were the center of attention for tourists wanting to know if this was some kind of fashion shoot. And we were magnets for foreign tourists who always seem to be drawn to engagement shoots and wedding portrait sessions in the city.
From The Met, we moved south for some central park engagement photos. And what better place to be than the iconic Bethesda Fountain with the historic Bow Bridge nearby in the park.
I create settings and scenarios where couples can interact naturally, producing natural and relaxed engagement photos instead of ones where you are posing in some awkward fashion.
Engagement sessions are totally optional with me. You can have one because you want to have what might be some of the first professionally created photographs of the two of you. You don’t have to have one because you need to ‘get to know’ your photographer. Decades as a photojournalist has given me the skill to make people comfortable and relax in front of the camera. And in front of the camera is where I will make you look relaxed and look your best.
